17 Best Riads in Chefchaouen

Planning a trip to Chefchaouen and want to stay in a traditional Moroccan home? If so then this epic list of the best riads in Chefchaouen is for you.

Trust me, staying in an authentic riad is something you want to do as much as possible since these types of buildings feature architecture that is unique to Morocco.

Typically, riads here are small and feature rooms that are set around a central courtyard. The courtyard is sometimes open, or covered, and may even feature a garden, fountain, or pool.

Riads do vary from city to city so a Marrakech riad may be different from a Chefchaouen riad. Either way, they are very traditional and I love staying inside a riad every chance I get.

They are also fairly small. So, you’ll receive more personalized service while staying inside individually decorated, Moroccan-style rooms.

Since I have been to Chefchaouen a bunch of times and stayed in a bunch of different riads, I have compiled this list of riads just for you.

They are the best of the best and all come highly rated by many travelers – not just me since my opinion is just one person’s.

So, use my expertly curated list of epic Chefchaouen riads to relax and make the most of your time in Chefchaouen.

This is another great luxury riad that is well-located in the Medina and that is designed using tradtional Moroccan decor.

All twenty-six rooms (yeah, this is one of the biggest riads on this list) come with tadelakt tile showers, comfy beds, free Wifi, and A/C.

“The hotel far exceeded my expectations. The pictures on the Booking app looked amazing and the hotel in real life was far better. So beautiful and serene. I could curl up here for a week with a good book and lose myself quite easily in its tranquil nooks and alcoves. The room was amazing with scenic views and the staff were impeccable. Will definitely be back.”

It’s just a cozy, comfy place to stay in Chechaouen. Heck, you can even upgrade to fancy smancy rooms with a fireplace and a large sitting area.

However, no matter where you stay all guests get access to an outdoor pool and a lush garden that surrounds the riad.

My fave part though is the sumptuous breakfast buffet that is overflowing with delicious Moroccan treats. However, it’s sometimes not restocked, so the food can get cold.

I also like that this riad is a bit outside the Medina. Therefore, it is a bit quieter. However, you are still within easy walking distance of all the top attractions in Chefchaouen since you are right near the waterfall.

5. Riad Nila

Wooden door with Riad Nila written above it and surrounded by blue walls.

There is even heat in all the rooms as well as a fireplace on-site that warms the entire riad up in the winter. Just bring a universal travel adaptor so that you can use the outlets in Morocco.

Also, don’t miss out on dining at their family-friendly restaurant. It serves delectable Moroccan dishes that you are sure to love.

If you want, you can upgrade to a soundproofed room with a quaint seating area – perfect for anyone like me who is a lite sleeper.

The only downside is that breakfast is not included and will cost an extra $4.00 per person. Not expensive but kind of wish they just included it in the price.

The riad can also get a bit nosy since local kids like to play outside. The showers also take some time to heat up. Other than that though, this place is pretty perfect.

10. Dar Solaiman

Yamamoto (read more reviews now)

It’s pretty dark and the toilet smells. So, ask the friendly staff if you can switch rooms if you end up here. That’s what we did and we were super happy we spoke up.

Also, breakfast is not included with your stay. Yeah, I always find this annoying since i just kind of want to get up and eat.

But, it’s only like $5.00 per person which is pretty reasonable. You’ll probably pay the same at a restaurant in Chefchaouen.

15. Dar Rass El Maa

I’ve stayed in a bunch of riads in Chefchaouen and Dar Rass El Maa is hands down one of my all-time favorites. First of all, I was welcomed at the door with a cup of mint tea and too amazing pastries.

I LOVED the cake and basically gobbled it up like I hadn’t eaten in a week. Then, when I got to my spacious room with a large bathroom (complete with toiletries), a full couch, a desk, a wardrobe, and a full bed, I found more goodies too.

Yeah, the staff had also put bottled water, an orange, and some cookies in my room. Additionally, I loved having my complimentary breakfast from the sun-filled terrace. It was a great place to sit and look out at the nearby waterfall.

FYI, the breakfast is awesome. The food was really good and included a delicious omelet as well as great bread, msemen, and all the sides. I even got coffee and tea.

“I liked everything about the property, the location was very good, just a 5-minute walk from the Medina, but outside of the bustle, so it was very quiet. The rooms were clean and well-maintained. The breakfast was delicious and with a beautiful view of the blue city on their terrace. All in all a great stay and will be back.”

Inesa (read more reviews now)

Yeah, if you’re a bit lonely after solo traveling Marrakech, then the lounge is a great place to meet people. Plus, if you’re visiting in winter then you’ll be delighted to know they have great heating and lots of extra blankets.

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the location. It is a bit outside of the Medina, so the riad is nice and quiet but still easy to find.

PS: You can do your laundry for free here (just tip the housekeeper) and the staff were amazing and invited me for Iftar during my stay since it was Ramadan. Seriously, one of the nicest riads I’ve been to.

16. Riad Nerja

Yes, you will have to use a shared bathroom. But, they are well-maintained and have lots of hot water. There’s also a nice rooftop terrace with impressive views of the city.

My favorite part of the bathroom is that the shower looks like it sits inside this massive cave. I also wish that there was more than one bathroom for everyone staying here.

“Antonio was the best host ever! He took the time to make sure I felt safe in Chefchaouen, provided insight, and tips to navigate the city. The place was tidy, in the heart of the Blue Pearl and beautifully adorned. I will miss the rooftop haven but will be back for a longer stay. Thank you, Antonio!”
