If you want, upgrade to a suite that includes a spacious sitting area and an amazing fireplace. However, regardless of the room you choose, you’ll be able to relax in their lush garden or go for a swim in their outdoor pool.

You’ll also love that a delicious breakfast buffet is included with your stay and features an array of Moroccan foods that everyone will love. Sadly, it isn’t replenished all the time and the food can sometimes be cold.

However, their on-site restaurant is open daily and serves excellent Moroccan and international cuisine.

Tucked away inside the Medina, Dar Dadicilef is one of my favorite riads in Chefchaouen. Not only is there a cute little garden to chill out in, but the wifi is good (66 Mbps), they have a great terrace, lots of luggage storage, and breakfast is included.

If you can, see if you can get room 6. The space is HUGE and I love that it comes with this giant tub that you can relax in. There’s also a really large seating area and the room is DEAD quiet.

Like, you can’t even hear the call to prayer, which is great for a super light sleeper like me.

“Super nice stay! The staff is super kind, the location and the place are amazing. We visited in January and we had the possibility to enjoy the fireplace. The terrace is full of board games! It’s a good spot for smart work too ;)”

Mariaeva (read more reviews now)

The rooms are not super well-decorated and are pretty plain. But, they are modern and have a nice Moroccan vibe to them. I also love that you get to enjoy breakfast while sitting in the garden.

Plus, if you visit in the winter then they have a nice fireplace for you to warm up by. Honestly, in terms of value for money, I think this is the BEST place to stay in Chefchaouen.

Since opening in August 2021, Riad La Santa has quickly become a beloved local hotel.

Sitting just a stone’s throw away from El Hammam Square, this charming riad offers breathtaking views of both the mountains and the city.

Guests can also enjoy the riad’s delightful sun terrace and benefit from the added convenience of a 24-hour front desk, as well as complimentary WiFi (FYI it kind of sucks).

Rooms all come with a private bathroom, and select accommodations feature a cozy seating area, in addition to soundproofing.

“The roof terrace and breakfast area was lovely, as were the ladies who made breakfast. The Riad was on a pedestrian street, but close to a place where the taxi could drop us off.”

Elizabeth (read more reviews now)

Food lovers will also enjoy dining at the riad’s family-friendly restaurant, which serves up delectable Moroccan cuisine for both lunch and dinner.

Sadly, breakfast is not included but can be enjoyed on the rooftop terrace for an extra $4.00 per person.

The area can also get a bit noisy because of local kids and the showers can take quite awhile to warm up.

Budget

8. Riad Sakura

A view of me and y boyfriend sitting together in Chefchaouen with the Spanish Mosque behind us. We did this during a fun Fes to Chefchaouen day trip.

⭐️ Rating: 9.2/10.0 (600 Reviews) Price: $45.00 per night 📍Location: av sidi abdelhamis Q/msalla, 91000 Chefchaouen Details: Read more on Booking.com now!

Not sure where to stay in Chefchaouen on a budget? Then book a room at Riad Sakura. It’s a great little spot right near the Medina with cozy rooms that offer you a comfy stay.

The rooms here are not the fanciest, but that’s okay since they all come with a private bathroom, free Wifi (not the best), city views, A/C, and flat-screen TVs.

Just don’t forget to visit the rooftop terrace. Relax at a small round table and enjoy amazing views of the surrounding mountains.

“This hotel is just outside the medina on the side of a mountain. It’s an easy five-minute walk to the main square and lots of restaurants. It’s very quiet Noor, the innkeeper, was very gracious and helpful.”

Yamamoto (read more reviews now)

Be forewarned, there is one room that is not so great. It is a bit dark and the toilet in the bathroom smells like a sewer. Yeah, kind of gross. But, all the other rooms are super nice.

So, if you get stuck with this room (like us) see if you can move to a nicer room. The staff are super nice about it and happy to help in any way they can.

Additionally, breakfast is NOT included with your stay. It costs $5.00 per person which is about what you’d pay if you went to a local restaurant in Chefchaouen.

9. Dar Rass El Maa

⭐️ Rating: 9.1/10.0 (281 Reviews) Price: $40.00 per night 📍Location: Rue Rass El Maa, 91000 Chefchaouen Details: Read more on booking.com now!

Opened in June 2022, Dar Rass El Maa is well-located near the Kasbah and features awesome, air-conditioned rooms that are surrounded by lush, serene gardens.

Guests will also feel at ease knowing that there is security on-site, as well as a charming picnic area where you can spend a quiet afternoon.

Perfect for anyone traveling with the family, the property features comfortable family rooms, baby gates, and a sunny terrace that everyone will love.

“I liked everything about the property, the location was very good, just a 5-minute walk from the Medina, but outside of the bustle, so it was very quiet. The rooms were clean and well-maintained. The breakfast was delicious and with a beautiful view of the blue city on their terrace. All in all a great stay and will be back.”

Inesa (read more reviews now)

In fact, you’ll enjoy a lovely, complimentary breakfast from this terrace while looking out at the surrounding mountains.

Once you step inside, you’ll see that each room is beautifully decorated and includes a private bathroom, free wifi, crisp bed linens, fluffy towels, and a communal lounge.

It’s the perfect place to meet other travelers after solo traveling in Marrakech. Additionally, they have extra blankets and good heating which is not always the case at a lot of hotels in Chefchaouen in the winter.

The only downside is that some of the furniture needs to be updated and the wifi can be a bit slow at times.

10. Dar Antonio

View of me standing in front of a blue door in the Medina in Chefchaouen. I am wearing a gray t-shirt and black shorts with my arms spread out diagonally.

⭐️ Rating: 9.0/10.0 (264 Reviews) Price: $32.00 per night 📍Location: Garnata n36, 91000 Chefchaouen Details: Read more on booking.com now!

Dar Antonio is a cute little riad in the Medina that is known for clean, comfy, traditional Moroccan-style rooms that come at a super affordable price.

Yes, the bathrooms are shared, but they are clean and the water is warm. There’s also a lovely terrace where you can sit and look out at the city.

Additionally, Antonio goes out of his way to help you out with local recommendations about where to eat, what to do, and where to shop in the city.

“Antonio was the best host ever! He took the time to make sure I felt safe in Chefchaouen, provided insight, and tips to navigate the city. The place was tidy, in the heart of the Blue Pearl and beautifully adorned. I will miss the rooftop haven but will be back for a longer stay. Thank you, Antonio!”

Alvelyn (read more reviews now)

Just be aware that their Continentnal breakfast is not included. It costs $3.00 per person which I think is pretty reasonable. You also may not want to stay here if you have to do work since they only have basic wifi (8 Mbps).

Additionally, you do have to pay extra for heating, something that you may want to consider when visiting Chefchaouen in the winter. The steps are also steep so be careful if you have knee problems.

Otherwise, this is one of the all-around best budget hotels in Chefchaouen.

11. Riad Dar Chama

⭐️ Rating: 9.0/10.0 (123 Reviews) Price: $62.00 per night 📍Location: Sidi Sellam, 91000 Chefchaouen Details: Read more on booking.com now!

The newly renovated hotel just opened in December of 2023 and has an amazing 24-hour front desk where you can go any time you need help.

They also offer luggage storage, laundry service, and have free wifi in place throughout the property.

The rooms don’t have a super Moroccan feel to them but they are big, light, airy, and feature lovely ceilings with wooden beams that give this riad in Chefchaouen a cozy, country feel.

“Our stay couldn’t have been better! Kind stuff, lovely room, clean, aircon, central, delicate Moroccan design, kind served breakfast, laundry service, comfy beds, safe and guarded parking place nearby. Gladly book again when in Chauen another time.”

Sandra (read more reviews now)

They also come outfitted with flat-screen TVs (with streaming services), a seating area, and private bathrooms with a great walk-in shower and bathrobes.

The best part? You’ll get cookies and/or chocolates to enjoy in your room and can choose between a Continental or an a la carte breakfast as part of your stay. It’s totally free and absolutely delish.

The only tiny downside is that you have no place to hang your clothes. But, how many days are you gonna spend in Chefchaouen? Yeah, it’s not a huge deal.

The first time I ever came to Chefchaouen I stayed at Riad Baraka and loved it. First of all, the staff are lovely and offered great info about what to do and where to go.

They were also really helpful in arranging group activities and getting a bunch of us together to share a taxi to go hiking in the area. Yeah, it was a great way to meet people and made Chefchaouen worth visiting.

“Hostel is beautiful, very calm/serene vibe. sitting on the roof terrace with the call to prayer echoing off the mountains was genuinely surreal. only negatives were the dorms being left unlocked despite having locks? would also say the atmosphere is probably better suited to couples/small groups rather than solo travellers :)”

Allen (read more reviews now)

You can also chat with others on the roof and enjoy epic views of the city. They have basic dorms but I opted for a private room. The bed was comfy and the shower was nice. They even had a portable heater I could use to keep warm.

The one downside was that breakfast was not included and I really didn’t think the breakfast they served was that good.

There are also no laundry facilities, so you will have to go outside the Medina to wash your clothes. Other than that I enjoyed my time here and would stay here again. Who knows, you might even figure out why Chefchaouen is blue.
