Are you planning an Agafay Desert day trip? If so, the easiest and most affordable way to do that is to book one of the best Agafay Desert tours.
Yeah, there is no public transportation into and out of the Agafay Desert. Sure, you could take bus 33. But, that bus will drop you off near the road into the desert. So, you’ll still need to take a car from here into the desert.
You also could opt for a private transfer but that will cost around 650 Dirhams ($65.00) each way. I also would not advise renting the car since the road into the desert is pretty bad and filled with cars, quad bikes, camels, and more.
Other people like to spend the night. I found it to be relaxing, but it was super expensive. Yeah, it is way cheaper to visit as part of an organized tour.
This way you could spend the day riding quad bikes, doing camel treks, and get round-trip transportation into and out of the desert for just 400 Dirhams ($40.00 per person).
Yeah, paid that much for one hour-long camel ride along the road. So, be smart, make the most of your time, and book an incredible day trip to the Agafay Desert from Marrakech.

Local Tip: Please note that the Agafay Desert is a ROCK desert and not a sand desert like the Sahara. So, if you are looking to traverse through giant sand dunes then this is not the place to go during your 4 days in Marrakech itinerary.
Also make sure you know the best time to visit Marrakech and the Agafay Desert since the area can get hit by intense sand storms from March through June.

“Very good excursion, complete and which corresponds to the description. We were warmly welcomed by Mohamed Baakenna, smiling and attentive. The only thing to improve perhaps in our opinion is the difficulty in finding the right group at the starting point. A sign perhaps? Or not the same starting point for all groups.”

“This was hands down an awesome experience; from the day before the team got in touch by WhatsApp to arrange a pick up location – they came to nearby to my hotel to get me; and the whole crew are fun and friendly. We had a quick stop about 10 mins from the take off site for a toilet break and to collect our gear and then finished our drive up the mountain. I jumped with Abdul and was pretty nervous – he was patient and easy going and told me to trust him, so I did and it was awesome! Got lots of footage on the GoPro they provide immediately after the experience and they are happy to answer any questions, etc you have. Definitely a highlight from my Moroccan trip – would recommend and would come back and do it again!”
