Best Agafay Desert Luxury Camp: 9 Local Picks for Your Next Trip

I’m not gonna lie to you, I’m not a huge of traditional camping. I am a TERRIBLE sleeper and need a bed and lots of quiet to get a good night’s sleep. So, I knew I had to stay at the best Agafay Desert luxury camp when I finally visited the area.

Sure, it’s not cheap and even getting there is ridiculously expensive since a one-way transfer will cost anywhere between 500 Dirhams ($50.00) and 650 Dirhams ($60.00).

But, if you’re looking for a supremely luxurious experience filled with plush beds, chic tents, stunning infinity pools, and posh yoga tents then you will love this list of the best luxury Agafay Desert camps.

Just know that many of these luxurious Agafay Desert camps are VERY isolated. So, you are a captive audience when it comes to food and activities in the Agafay Desert.

My advice would be to pre-book activities, like quad biking and camel riding, since there is nothing else to do out there besides lounging by the pool.

You may also want to bring some extra food since there are no restaurants or supermarkets out there. Therefore, you’ll have to bring something or eat all of your meals at the restaurant associated with your Agafay Desert camp.

The food at my desert camp was okay but it can get really expensive real quick since some camps charge upwards of 900 Dirhams ($90.00) for dinner. Honestly, this is not typical but I have heard of this happening.

I think 300 or 400 Dirhams is more common and what I paid for dinner.

However, if money is not an issue then you will love staying at some of these high-end desert camps in the Agafay Desert.

So, let’s swan dive into this epic list and take a look at the camps that I would stay at since I am a local who has been to the Agafay Desert a couple of times.

Tents are also extremely spacious and feature large, king-sized beds and private fireplaces that make it an epic place to relax.

“Great hotel at perfect location, deep inside the desert of Agafay, with fabulous view, very nice dinner accompanied by local musicians. The pool was very relaxing with the best aesthetic view, while the sunrise was the best picture. The staff was very kind and the lodge was spacious and clean. The activities provided were numerous. There are also lovely bathrooms tucked away in each tent that include bathrobes, slippers, and complimentary toiletries.

Breakfast is also included, with a variety of menus available to suit the dietary needs of halal, vegetarian, and gluten-free visitors.

Unfortunately, the epic on-site pool is not heated and the camp isn’t super secluded since there are other camps nearby. But, you’ll be able to listen to live music around an outdoor fire before booking an assortment of cool desert experiences.

Just try to bring your own water since it is not included and can get expensive when purchasing it on-site. You can also book lots of cool tours and try the best quad biking in Marrakech or the best camel tours in Marrakech.

2. Kalyptus Luxury Camp

You can even upgrade to a room with a private jacuzzi and terrace for the ultimate luxury experience.

You also won’t have to worry about getting bored since you can use an outdoor pool with sweeping views of the Atlas Mountains before dining at one of three restaurants or namaste-ing it up at an on-site yoga class in Marrakech.

Regardless of what you do, you won’t regret your decision to stay here since the service is great, the complimentary breakfast is one of the best breakfasts in Marrakech, and the beds are super comfy.

The only thing to be aware of is that there is no garbage bin in the tent, few lamps, and not all outlets are working. The shower is also MEH and the music at dinner is nice but can be loud.

Alcohol is also not available so this can be a good place to go if you’re worried about drinking alcohol in Marrakech.

3. Alkamar Camp Agafay

View of the rock hills in the Agafay Desert with a small community on a hill and the Atlas Mountains in the background on a sunny day.

⭐️ Rating: 9.2/10.0 (87 Reviews) Price: $318 per night 📍Location: Agafay, 40250 Agafay, Morocco Details: Read more on booking.com now!

Alakamar Camp Agafay is a wonderful, luxury glamping resort in the Agafay Desert that features a wide array of premium tents outfitted with wifi, king-sized beds, fluffy towels, electrical outlets, and private bathrooms.

It’s a great place to go if you’re spending more than a day in Marrakech since a stay here can be added to a 3-day Marrakech itinerary or a 4-day Marrakech itinerary.

The outdoor pool also sits on a plateau and offers incredible views of the surrounding desert. I just wish the lounge chairs around the pool had a bit more shade. The pool is also a bit small for swimming but still awesome.

You’ll also enjoy an a la carte breakfast or a continental breakfast that is served fresh and includes tea, fruit, juice, coffee, local foods, and more.

Additionally, this luxury Agafay Desert camp has a ton of activities for you to enjoy, like walking tours, bike rides, and camel rides.

You can even book a transfer to help you quickly get from the airport to the desert camp. Honestly, I would go for this option rather than driving myself since the road into and out of the camp isn’t well-maintained.

Yeah, the road can be rough and hard to drive on.

“Alkamar Camp was absolutely one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, a birthday that I will never forget thanks to all the staff but in particular to Mohamed (orange man), this will certainly remain my favorite place… I already miss it and I can not wait to come back! Thank you so much to all the staff and Mohamed.”

“We stayed in 3 different places during our 8 nights in Marrakech and this was our absolute favorite! Such a beautiful oasis, not too far but far enough from the noisy city. We were the only ones at the camp that night but Mamud and the team made it exceptional with great dinner and music. Thank you so much!”

Additionally, you won’t have to worry about going hungry since this luxury Agafay Desert camp has an amazing breakfast buffet filled with pastries, pancakes, traditional Moroccan cuisine, and more.

Just head to the property’s lavish dining tent and get ready for the meal of a lifetime. There’s also an indoor play space for kids and a 24-hour front desk that makes check-in a breeze.

The one downside is that it’s easy to run up a large bill since you pay for everything at the end of your visit. It’s also a small camp with just ten tents on-site.

So, if you’re after more of an authentic camping vibe and want to stay here then book your tent now since spots fill up quickly.

7. Agafay Valley

View of a tent with a thatched roof hut and a fence in the desert with colorful lanterns.

⭐️ Rating: 8.6/10.0 (158 Reviews) Price: $204 per night 📍Location: Agafay Valley Near Marrakesh, Marrakesh, Morocco Details: Read more on booking.com now!

You know those chic bubble tents that you see all over the Arctic and in places like Wadi Rum? Well, those are exactly the types of accommodations you’ll find at one of the best Agafay Desert luxury camps.

Not only are the bubble tents at Agafay Valley fully insulated, but they are super unique and unlike anything else, you’ll find in the Agafay Desert.

So, relax on your private terrace and take in sweeping views of the area. You’ll also love that each sphere comes with a private bathroom that is well-equipped with high-end toiletries and slippers.

“The dome and the camp was great, very spacious and clean, very pretty and the bathroom was inside, as in the pictures. The staff was very polite with us, and helpful, and the breakfast was good. The mint tea was so good also. And looking at the night sky at night was something so beautiful. We were lucky that that night there was a full moon.”

Ardit (read more reviews now)

Yeah, these tents are super charming and feature colorful decor, heat, spacious beds, cozy blankets, and killer a/c.

You’ll also be able to dig into an epic daily breakfast filled with delicious local items (and pancakes) before ordering all the food and drinks you want from their amazing on-site restaurant.

There’s even an awesome indoor swimming pool that you can use year-round, something that is a rarity in the Agafay Desert. Yeah, most pools in the area are outdoor pools and are not heated.

So, the water in these outdoor pools can get quite chilly at any time other than summer.

Just do yourself a favor and pack some food and drinks to take into the desert with you since the cost of these items can add up fast.

But, there’s not much you can do about this since this luxury Agafay Desert camp is pretty isolated. I would also bring cash so you can buy anything you need and be prepared for mediocre Wifi.
