Want to do some coworking in Essaouira? If so then this mega epic guide is for you. See, I have lived in Essaouira since January of 2023 and am currently a digital nomad in Morocco.
Therefore, I know all about some of the best coworking spaces in Essaouira and some of the best cafes in Essaouira for coworking too.
TBH, knowing about epic coworking spots is essential as a remote worker in Morocco since many Airbnb’s, riads, and hotels have terrible wifi.
Yeah, owners SAY the wifi is amazing but 9 times out of 10 it is absolute garbage. So, instead of getting shiz done, you spend the afternoon searching for a quiet, comfy spot with decent wifi.
Well, the good news is that I have done the hard work for you and know exactly where you can go to get work done.
Thankfully, there are three dedicated coworking spaces in Essaouira: NOQTA Space, Mama Lova, and Atlantic Hostel. The latter of these three is my least favorite since you just sit in the lobby of a hostel and do work.
However, the other two spots I meantioned have wicked-fast wifi and are designed with remote workers in mind.
Now, if you don’t want to PAY to do work then La Marre, the Hostel La Smala rooftop, and L’Atleier Cafe are all great cafes where you can do work without spending a small fortune.
Yeah, the only thing you’ll need to pay for is coffee, at least if you want to enjoy the cozy atmosphere and WICKED fast wifi at these amazing cafes.
But, to help you make the best decision possible, let’s dig deeper into this local guide and learn more about all of the best spots for coworking in Essaouira.

Best Coworking Spaces in Essaouira
1. NOQTA SPACE

This is probably the best and most reasonably priced place for coliving and coworking in Essaouira. First of all, it’s basically the only coliving space in Essaouira.
So, if you want to meet and connect with other professional digital nomads then this is the place to go.
Currently, only three double rooms are available for coliving, all of which include access to a beautiful, two-story terrace where you can relax and recharge.
Rooms start at between 255 Dirhams ($25.50) and 360 Dirhams ($36.00) per day, depending on whether you want breakfast and workspace access included in your stay.
Now, if you just want to use their coworking space then you can enjoy a beautifully decorated space that is spread out across two floors of an old riad.
It’s a bit small but is well equipped with tables and chairs and wicked fast wifi. Prices are very reasonable and start at 8 Dirhams per hour ($0.80) or 55 Dirhams ($5.50) for the day.
However, if you want to use a shared private room then the price is 12 Dirhams per hour ($1.20) and 85 Dirhams ($8.50) for the day. In contrast, a fully private room costs 20 Dirhams per hour ($2.00) and 150 Dirhams ($15.00) for the day.
I love that all prices include complimentary filter coffee, tea, and water, making this a warm, welcoming, and relaxed place to do work. Just remember that if you want a drink from the Barista then you will have to pay extra.
Additionally, you do not need to make a reservation. Just drop in Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, and enjoy the awesome vibe of this epic spot.
You’ll also be delighted to know that there are a lot of great coworking spaces in Marrakech too. Plus, after your epic work sesh, relax and sign up for a surf camp in Essaouira.
2. Mama Lova

This dedicated coworking space sits inside an Essaouira riad of the same name. It’s open Monday through Friday and remote workers are welcome to sit inside a well-appointed indoor patio.
The atmosphere at Mama Lova is calm but friendly, making this a great place to be productive. You can also connect with other entrepreneurs since they host regular mini-conferences that appeal to digital nomads.
Personally, I love working here. Sadly, I find it to be VERY expensive since there are no hourly rates and you must pay 200 Dirhams ($20.00) to work here if you want to enjoy breakfast (with unlimited coffee) from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Conversely, you can stop by for lunch from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and enjoy lovely lunch with unlimited hot (tea/coffee/matcha) and cold beverages.
The last time I was here I got a savory tart and a delicious dessert to accompany my drinks and it cost me 350 Dirhams ($35.00).
Overall, it’s a nice place to work with great wifi, plenty of outlets, and a calm atmosphere. I also love that you get unlimited drinks and a nice meal. But, I think it is very expensive and probably won’t come back for that reason.
It also feels more like a restaurant than an actual coworking space.
3. Atlantic Hostel

If you go online and search for “coworking in Essaouira“, you’ll see Atlantic Hostel & Coworking Space pop up.
Well, when I turned up to learn more about their coworking opportunities, I found out that you basically just order a drink from the cafe upstairs and sit in the lobby to do work.
Alternatively, you could also sit in a small rooftop area that is reserved for hotel guests and anyone there to do work. Although, I am not sure how strong the wifi signal is up there.
Overall, the space is fine. It is nothing fancy and is not overly comfy. It can also fill up with people since everyone comes down to the lobby of this Essaouira hostel to chill to escape their dorm room.
But, this place will do in a pinch, and if you don’t want to pay to do work. Just know that the wifi can get a bit slow since EVERYONE is using it, especially in the evening.
Basically, I would come here as a last resort or if you are really broke and just want to go somewhere cheap.
Local Tip: They have a nice rooftop area with a restaurant and bar where you can grab drinks/food and watch the sunset over Essaouira in the evening.

4. La Marre

I love this cafe in Essaouira for many reasons. First of all, it’s spacious and the seats are mad comfy. Secondly, the wifi is FAST, the staff is nice, the coffee is good, and this spot overlooks the beach in Essaouira.
Lastly, they are associated with the hotel upstairs and have a nice food menu too. So, if you want to grab an omelet and enjoy a nice, quick brunch in Essaouira then you can do that here since they serve food from Morocco here.
It’s a great option since I hate having to pack up all my stuff just so that I can go find food elsewhere – especially if I’m going to come back to do more work later.
So, if you get a little hungry, order from their reasonably priced food and drinks menu since the staff is lovely and will be happy to bring you anything you need.
We used to come here EVERY day during Ramadan since it was a great place to do work. It was super quiet and the couches were comfortable.
It was also nice that my partner could work here without ordering anything since he was fasting.
My only tiny complaint is that there are only two outlets in the entire cafe. So, definitely try and charge your laptop before you stop by.
5. L’Atleier Cafe and Boutique

This is another great place to do work in Essaouira. Not only is this cafe/boutique well-decorated, but the space is BIG. So, you should have no problem finding a seat.
However, if all the tables are full, go into the room on your right. It had a giant, round table outfitted with outlets that you could use to charge your device. The wifi is also strong and you should have no problem getting things done.
Sadly, they don’t have a full menu and serve mainly coffee and desserts. TBH, I am not a huge fan of their coffee but I do LOVE their quiche. I also think they may have some vegan food in Essaouira too.
Just ask someone behind the counter about the quiche of the day and they’ll bring you a giant slice with a lovely side salad.
Added bonus? This is a great place to go if you run out of things to do in Essaouira since they have a nice boutique for shopping in Essaouira and host one of the best cooking classes in Essaouira.
Local Tip: There are signs on the wall that ask you to limit laptop use during certain hours of the day. When we asked staff they just asked us to sit at smaller tables to save room for larger groups of people.
You can also do a fun cooking class if you are gluten-free in Essaouira since they prepare a lot of gluten-free dishes here.
6. Hostel La Smala Rooftop

Looking for a coworking space in Essaouira with the best view ever? If so then head to the roof of Hostel la Smala in the Medina. Here you will find a stunning rooftop adorned with white furniture, cactus, and whicker lamps.
However, the real highlight of any trip here are the sweeping views of the Old Skala and the Atlantic Ocean.
So, grab a drink (only non-alcoholic drinks are available) and relax on a couch in a cozy booth. You can escape the sun, get a bit of work done, and order a sandwich/breakfast/variety of desserts if you get hungry.
Just be aware that this is mainly a cafe. So, there aren’t a ton of outlets available. The roof is also a bit open, so the rooftop can get a bit sunny/hot during the middle of the day.
But, the wifi is wicked fast since it also used by guests of the hostel. In fact, you can ask staff if you can head downstairs and use an enclosed, communal space that is well-outfitted with charging stations.
Overall, this is a very picturesque place to do work. Just know that the roof sometimes closes to non-hostel guests when they get busy in the summer.

Conclusion
Overall, I think my favorite place for coworking in Essaouira is L’Atelier. The wifi is good, the space is large/comfortable, and they serve an epic quiche.
It sometimes can get a bit crowded and noisy. So, if you need a quiet space to do work and conduct video calls then try NOQTA. This place is super reasonably priced and the staff are lovely.
Just be careful when looking for a place to work in Essaouira since many cafes do not allow laptops and have signs all over the wall to remind you (Pumpkin and Mandala Society are two work-free cafes).
Other than that, enjoy your time in Essaouira. And if you enjoyed this post, be sure to join our email list and Facebook group for even more awesome travel advice.
