Is it just me or is it difficult to find decent accommodations in a new city? You don’t want to spend all your money on a hotel room, but you also don’t want to stay in a dump that is a 60+ minute walk from the city’s top attractions.
You also want to enjoy an authentic stay in a Moroccan riad since you can’t find this style of architecture anywhere else in the world.
Well, I am here to help. I live in Morocco and have been to Tangier more times than I can count. Therefore, I know a thing or two about the best riads in Tangier.
These riads are all centrally located, well-priced, and offer awesome traditional rooms that you will love. Just remember, that a riad is generally a small, tradtional Moroccan building with rooms situated around a central courtyard.
This courtyard can be open or closed and can include everything from fountains to pools to beautiful gardens.
Because riads tend to be small and historic, they usually don’t have elevators. So, if you have mobility issues, consult the owners before you book your room (or request a room on the ground floor).
I would also book your accommodations in Tangier WELL in advance (like months) since many of these riads have less than ten rooms and fill up QUICKLY.
Yeah, I have so many readers who come to me and tell me they waited too long because now all the “good” riads are fully booked. So, don’t make this mistake in Morocco and book your room ASAP.
Additionally, while there are many large, name-brand resorts on the beach in Tangier, try staying in a riad instead. The experience is just so much more personal and feels so much more authentic.
Other than that, have a look at my guide to the most beautiful riads in Tangier and figure out exactly where to stay in Tangier right now.

1. Riad Dar Saba – Saba’s House

โญ๏ธ Rating: 9.5/10.0 (247 Reviews) Price: $231+ per night ๐Location: 61 RUE CHEIKH MOHAMED BEN SEDDIK, PLACE AMRAH LA KASBAH, Old Medina, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Well-located near the American Legation Museum (aka one of my FAVE museums in Tangier), Riad Sar Saba is a luxurious place to stay in the Kasbah.
Not only does this property have a gorgeous rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the Ocean (loved having brekkie up here), but you can also stay in one of six gorgeous rooms.
Each is individually decorated and comes with stunning modern Moroccan decor, coffee machines, flat-screen TVs, a desk, and exquisitely tiled bathrooms that you’ll 100% want to photograph this hidden gem in Tangier.
“The riad is stunningly gorgeous! There is something captivating to see from every angle! The owner is delightful and the staff is attentive and indulgent.โ
Jerilyn (read more reviews now)
There’s even an elegant grand piano in the shared common room and a stunning on-site restaurant that serves delicious Mediterranean fare.
Additionally, the staff is super kind and helpful. They go out of their way to help you with any problems or to give you insider tips.
The only negative is that breakfast is quite expensive at $20.00 per person. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good but expensive. Some rooms also don’t come with windows which can make the space feel a bit dark.
Otherwise, a stay here is definitely one of the coolest things to do in Morocco.
2. Dar Sultan
โญ๏ธ Rating: 9.3/10.0 (454 Reviews) Price: $136+ per night ๐Location: 49, Rue Touila La Kasbah, Old Medina, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Dar Sultan is great if you want to stay in an old-world Moroccan riad (in the Kasbah) that is well-located near the beach and some of the best restaurants in Tangier.
After all, this riad in Tangier occupies a historic, 300-year-old building that is home to six tradtional rooms that are great places to chill after a cooking class in Tangier.
Each room has a private bathroom with complimentary toiletries and an enchanting terrace that opens out onto a central courtyard.
A sumptuous Moroccan breakfast is also served daily and includes things like Beghrir, croissants, and various other Moroccan pastries. It’s REALLY good and is free for everyone.
“Exactly as advertised. Great location and wonderful rooms and very clean. Enormous breakfasts, the fresh vegetables and breads were so delicious. Excellent stay and would only stay there in Tangier again. Staff was sweet and extremely helpful.โ

I liked eating on the rooftop terrace with beautiful views of the Ocean and stunning plant life all around me. However, you can also enjoy breakfast in the lounge.
Overall, this riad is ideal if you want to feel like you’re spending the night inside a tradtional Moroccan home.
Just know that rooms do NOT come with a/c if that is important to you. The outdoor area around the hotel can also be a bit noisy in the evening since it is home to the best things to do in Tangier for free.
3. Riad Al-Qurtubi

โญ๏ธ Rating: 9.0/10.0 (570 Reviews) Price: $107+ per night ๐Location: Rue Assad Ibn al Farrat 3, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Riad Al-Qurtubi is located a bit outside the Medina. However, I really liked that since I needed a bit of peace and quiet the last time I stayed here.
This place also FEELS super luxe but is very reasonably priced with eight gorg rooms to choose from.
They all feel distinctly Moroccan with cool stained glass windows and come with fun modern amenities like a hair dryer, free toiletries, bathrooms with walk-in showers, and a wardrobe.
“We had to check out very early so the staff came in early to make sure we had breakfast before we left. Very friendly staff.โ

Personally, my all-time FAVE thing about staying here was relaxing on the open-air rooftop terrace. I got to enjoy unobstructed views of the Ocean and just adored chilling here.
The tilework on the terrace is also amazing and there were all these lovely potted plants, too. TBH, I loved eating brekkie here since the seats were comfy, and I got to dig into harsha, amlou, jam, beghrir, eggs, yogurt, croissants, etc.
All in all, everything was great and I’d be happy to stay here again. It’s one of those riads that makes Tangier worth visiting again and again.
Mid-Range
4. Dar Laghrib
โญ๏ธ Rating: 9.1/10.0 (119 Reviews) Price: $84+ per night ๐Location: no 42 Rue Dar Baroud, Old Medina, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Dar Laghrib is a beautiful blue and white hostel that is well-located in the Medina. This property first opened in 2024 and now has ten well-appointed rooms for you to stay in.
Overall, rooms feel very spacious and feature plenty of windows as well as fun Moroccan decor. They also include a flat-screen TV, heating, wifi, and a private bathroom with a hairdryer/complimentary toiletries.
Just know that some of the showers don’t really drain well and can flood a bit.
“We had an absolutely amazing time! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing stay. The inside of the Dar is beautiful and perfectly located just inside the Medina to access everything! And their lunch recommendation ended up being the best tagline weโve had in Morocco!”
Shaan (read more reviews now)
Other property highlights include an on-site restaurant, 24-hour reception, round-the-clock security, an on-site coffee shop, and an a la carte breakfast that is served daily.
The breakfast is to die for, and the staff is really helpful. They have great tips that really enhance the quality of your trip. So, this is definitely a top pick for one of the best riads in Tangier.
All in all, it’s a great place to chill and relax after taking the ferry from Spain to Morocco.
5. Dar Tanja Boutique Hotel

โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.7/10.0 (721 Reviews) Price: $80+ per night ๐Location: Dar Tanja, Villa Charrat, Lots Volcaltom Boubana Tanger, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
There are a couple of things you need to know before booking a room at Dar Tanja Boutique Hotel. The first thing is that this place isn’t technically a riad.
Instead, it is a beautiful hotel with top-notch service. That’s why this property made it on this list. However, if you want to stay in an authentic Moroccan riad then don’t stay here.
The other thing you need to know is that this hotel in Tangier is about a 50-minute walk (or 10-minute drive) from the Medina.
So, you will be a bit outside the city center if you stay here. However, that should be okay if you are planning to rent a car in Morocco.
Other than that, this Tangier hotel is awesome. All eleven rooms are spacious and include flat-screen TVs, comfy full-size beds (or larger), and a modern, private bathroom.
“The space was just beautiful–the gardens, pool area, spacious rooms. The hammam was reasonable and well done. They set us up with a guide who provided tours of the area and Chefchouen that were both reasonable and excellent. The food was fantastic and the staff were all lovely. Top rate!”
Paula (read more reviews now)
While the decor isn’t very Moroccan-inspired, there is a lovely outdoor pool that is surrounded by beautiful palm trees and large lounge chairs.
So, spend the day relaxing by the pool after enjoying a complimentary continental breakfast each morning. You can also visit their on-site hammam, dine at the hotel’s epic restaurant, or book a fun tour with staff at the front desk.
Overall, this is the perfect place to stay in Tangier if you want to enjoy a little rest and relaxation away from the busy city center.
6. Riad Tanja by Chef Moha

โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.8/10.0 (213 Reviews) Price: $80+ per night ๐Location: Rue Portugal Escalier American Nยฐ 2 AMAR ALILECH QUARTIER BENI IDER, Old Medina, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Riad Tanja by Chef Moha is a charming riad that is well-located in the center of the city. All six of the rooms are also quite spacious, with a large sitting area, flat-screen TVs, and a private bathroom with complimentary toiletries.
Rooms also feature a beautiful mix of modern and tradtional decor, an aesthetic that is enhanced by large windows that let in plenty of natural light.
“Large comfortable room, great breakfast and excellent dinner. It’s on the edge of the Medina near the American Legation museum so it’s easy to find.โ

A lavish, super tasty, tradtional Moroccan breakfast is also included with your stay. So, no need to hit up a cool cafe in Tangier first thing in the morning.
Instead, enjoy tradtional Moroccan foods, like msemen and Beghrir, from their rooftop as you admire sweeping views of the city all around you.
So, be sure to stay here if you love great food, excellent service, and want to be well-located near some of Tangier’s most iconic landmarks.
7. Riad Tingis
โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.9/10.0 (1713 Reviews) Price: $78+ per night ๐Location: Rue Nejjarine 15 Rue Nejjarine Tanger Maroc, Old Medina, 90030 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Situated right in the heart of Tangier, Riad Tingis is a large, traditional riad with nine individually decorated rooms.
TBH, I found the decor in some of the rooms a bit dated. However, all the accommodations are comfortable and include a wardrobe, a/c, a seating/dining area, and a private bathroom (plus toiletries and a hair dryer).
“We enjoyed the size of the rooms and the comfortable beds. However, we loved the breakfast on the rooftop the most as it had an amazing view of the city and the ocean. The staff was very welcoming and helpful in making sure we had a wonderful stay.โ
Abeer (read more reviews now)
However, my favorite thing about this riad is their beautiful rooftop terrace. It is equipped with a wealth of tables, offers sweeping views of the city, and is a great place to enjoy their delicious daily breakfast.
Yup, the food here is hot and delicious and includes Moroccan pastries and pancakes among other things. The only thing that could be improved upon is the lack of lighting and the quality of the bathrooms.
The walls are also a bit thin and you can sometimes hear your neighbor.
Thankfully, though, the staff are wonderful and their excellent customer service (I mean they welcome you with mint tea) more than makes up for this.
8. Riad AMR

โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.6/10.0 (874 Reviews) Price: $65+ per night ๐Location: Rue Lokous, Old Medina, 90030 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Welcome to Riad AMR. It’s a gorg riad in central Tangier (a 12-minute walk from the port) that comes with eight beautifully decorated rooms. No really, the decor is super fun and funky, making the interior of this hotel super Instagrammable.
However, rooms here don’t just look good. They also come with modern amenities like private bathrooms (with tubs), plush towels, flat-screen TVs, heat, a hair dryer, etc.
“Great service, the owner was super friendly and received us with the most delicious mint tea !! Also, the breakfast was one of the best in our visit to Morocco, room was tiny but.. super clean and well equipped!!โ
Garcia (read more reviews now)
Staff also receive you with delicious mint tea and serve you a homemade breakfast on a charming rooftop that comes fully outfitted with awesome wicker tables, chairs, and umbrellas.
Yeah, the Moroccan vibes on the roof are top-notch, as are the views, making this an excellent place to eat.
If I’m being honest, the rooms are definitely a bit small. But, that’s okay if you plan to be out and want to spend the day exploring Tangier.
9. Dar Nour
โญ๏ธ Rating: 9.0/10.0 (687 Reviews) Price: $64+ per night ๐Location: 20, Rue Gourna, la Kasbah, Old Medina, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
I honestly can’t really find anything NOT to like about Dar Nour. First of all, you can enjoy stunning views of the beach/city from their charming, multi-level, all-white terrace with cushioned, banquet seating around wooden tables.
There are also plenty of tables to sit at and tradtional whicker umbrellas available if you don’t want to sit in the sun.
This riad in Tangier is also BIG, with 15 elegant rooms to choose from. Yeah. the decor here is very chic and has this modern Moroccan vibe that makes you feel like you are staying in an expensive, 5-star resort.
“The suite was well laid out with a bathroom area/library and bedroom separate from living area. The room and hotel are full of lovely touches – moorish doors and windows, books, and local art and furnishings.โ
Evelyn (read more reviews now)
However, rooms are very reasonably priced and feature all the usual amenities (private bathrooms, free toiletries, soundproofing, wifi, linens, etc.).
Some larger rooms even include a sitting room, with an amazing breakfast on offer for just $7.00 per person.
I kind of wish breakfast was included since that is pretty typical for Morocco. But, I guess each riad has its own quirks. $7.00 is also pretty expensive for breakfast in Morocco IMHO.
10. Riad Sultana

โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.6/10.0 (749 Reviews) Price: $63+ per night ๐Location: rue Soussi quartier Oued Ahardane Nยฐ 6 place Sekkaya-Mรฉdina, Old Medina, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
The first thing I noticed about Riad Sultana is the beautiful fountain in the central courtyard. It is surrounded by gorg turquoise tilework and makes you feel like you’re staying in a tradtional riad.
I also love that the building features a lot of authentic, stained glass windows that add to the old-world charm of this place.
Additionally, all seven rooms are individually decorated and feature minimalist decor that comes with a bit of Moroccan flair.
“Almost nothing to complain about. I liked the breakfast which was a little different to the ones I had in Morocco before. Good location.”
Sonja (read more reviews now)
The real highlight of your stay though will be hanging out on their light and bright rooftop terrace. It features large potted plants, round tables, and wicker umbrellas for shade. It is a perfect place to sit and watch the city walk by.
A nice breakfast is also included with your room, as are any other modern amenities you might need for a comfy stay (like solid a/c).
The wifi is also quite fast and the staff (shout out to Bilal) is truly wonderful. They always put their guests first and make you feel truly special.
One downside is that rooms can get a bit stuffy since there aren’t a ton of windows for ventilation. There are also no TVs but that wasn’t really an issue for me.
11. Dar Yasmine
โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.7/10.0 (1205 Reviews) Price: $60+ per night ๐Location: 40 Rue Jamaa Lakbir, Old Medina, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
In total, Dar Yasmine has six unique rooms to choose from. They are well-located in the Medina and include access to a beautiful rooftop terrace with stellar panoramas of the city.
What I like about the rooms here is that they are a bit less refined than what you’ll find in some other hotels in Tangier. Don’t get me wrong, they are still nice and include things like STRONG wifi, a TV, a/c, a private bathroom, a safe, etc.
It’s just the decor and furniture make you feel like you’re staying in someone’s home as opposed to a plush hotel.
Other highlights include a 24-hour a-day front desk service, luggage storage, and dry cleaning for an additional fee.
“They have a beautiful rooftop where you can work, read books and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean and the Medina. The wifi was strong throughout the building. Great valueโ
Thuy (read more reviews now)
Breakfast is also available, but you will need to pay $6.00 per person for it. Personally, I would just splurge on breakfast and then eat it on the roof. The views are great and it’s nice that the breakfast changes daily.
All in all, this place is a solid choice. The wifi is great, the staff is lovely, and the rooftop is a great place to hang out if you want to chill with a book.
Just know that this riad is facing a mosque. So, the call to prayer can wake you up quite early in the morning. A bit inconvenient but common when traveling to Morocco.
12. Dar Sekka
โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.9/10.0 (124 Reviews) Price: $55+ per night ๐Location: 14 Rue Sekka, Old Medina, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
The first thing I have to say is that Dar Sekka probably has the most picturesque rooftop of all the riads on the list.
It features sweeping views, super comfy couches, small tables, tons of potted plants, a tarp for shade, and a wealth of wicker lanterns that add to the ambiance of the space.
There are also six fun and well-decorated rooms to choose from. They feature modern Moroccan accents as well as comfy beds and private bathrooms with a curtain for privacy.
Sure, some of the rooms are a bit on the small side. However, the common areas are well-appointed and have a light, bright feel to them. So, it was a nice space that I actually wanted to hang out in.
“The staff were very accommodating, and helped out with restaurants, tours and local knowledge. It was well located in the petite socco, close to the ferry port, beaches, shopping, and several museums. The hotel has recently been refurbished so it’s in excellent condition. We highly recommend staying with Driss, Meriem, and Ilyas at Dar Sekka!”
Scott (read more reviews now)
Other highlights include a great location near Petit Socco, free toiletries, wardrobes, wifi, room service, walk-in showers, hair dryers, 24/7 security (even though Tangier is safe), and daily breakfast.
All in all, Meryem and her brother do a great job of making you feel welcome at this affordable riad in Tangier. However, the rooftop is the star of the show here and is reason enough to book a room.
13. Dar El Hayet
โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.2/10.0 (644 Reviews) Price: $52+ per night ๐Location: 21 Oued Kerman (Medina), Old Medina, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Not gonna lie, Dar El Hayet isn’t my fave riad on this list. Sure, it’s well-located and has a decent rooftop with beautiful views of the sunset.
But, the rooms are a bit plain, the water doesn’t really drain in the bathrooms, and the mattress was definitely on the hard side of “firm”.
“Excellent service and experience. The location was great and close to many places for food and the Kasbah museum.โ
Jonathan (read more reviews now)
The rooms also need to be sound-proofed and the property can be challenging to find in the Kasbah. So, give yourself plenty of time to get here.
On the plus side, the hosts are friendly and are always willing to help you out. You also get a solid breakfast for $5.00 per person.
So, while this is not my fave riad in Tangier, it is definitely a good option if you are on a budget and find a good deal on a room.
14. Dar Nakhla Naciria

โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.4/10.0 (1097 Reviews) Price: $42+ per night ๐Location: 12w, Rue Naciria, Old Medina, 90000 Tangier, Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Dar Nakhla Naciria is another budget-friendly riad in Tangier that is perfectly situated in the Medina. It is home to four traditionally decorated rooms with sitting areas and lots of beautiful zellige flooring.
Private bathrooms are also available as access to an on-site hammam, two terraces, and two communal lounges. It’s nice that they have a lot of communal space because some of the rooms are a bit on the small side.
“In love with the property. A beautiful Riad in the middle of the Medina. An echoing call to prayer can be heard which is lovely. If possible, stay on the top floor as windows open to the shared balcony- an oasis overlooking the Medina. Right next to the mosque. Staff are helpful, kind, and accommodating. Breakfast delicious, rooms beautifully set up. Taxi pick up well priced and convenient! This will be my go-to Riad when wanting a stay in Tangiers old town.”

But, a really nice breakfast is included with your stay. You can dig into homemade Moroccan crepes as well as fresh cheese, bread, and amlou. If you can, eat on the terrace so that you can admire the ocean.
Sue and Said are also super nice and really try to make your stay feel extra special. Sadly, though, the service can be a bit slow. So, I would be super clear about when you want breakfast. This way you don’t have to wait forever for food.
15. Dar Essaki 1886
โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.3/10.0 (1129 Reviews) Price: $42+ per night ๐Location: 17 Rue Mohamed Bergach, Old Medina, 90300 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Dar Essaki 1886 is a great option if you’re traveling to Tangier on a budget. Not only will you be about a 15-minute walk from the beach, but there are five traditionally decorated rooms available.
Yes, the rooms can feel a bit small and dark, but they do come with nice courtyard views, a terrace with plenty of tables, wifi, a wardrobe, nice linens/towels, and fresh fruit delivered to your room.
“There is so much to love about the place. Location was excellent as it’s centre of Madina and everything is on walking distance. Rooms were nice and comfortable. Rooftop was really beautiful. Staff was exceptionally helpful. Owner came on my checkout day and took us out for a drive to beautiful places and bought me and my friends sweet plus food. His generosity was commendable. Never seen that sort of hospitality before โค Thanks for the lovely stay ๐๐”
Waqas (read more reviews now)
It’s also worth noting that breakfast is not included and that some rooms do not come with a private bathroom. You also will have to walk here since taxis cannot access this riad.
But, it is a great way to enjoy staying in a tradtional home without spending a ton of money. This way you have more money to spend on cool day trips from Tangier.
The hosts are also very hospitable and make you feel more like family than guests.

16. Dar Rif Kebdani

If I was on a tight budget and still wanted to stay in one of the best riads in Tangier then I would book a room at Dar Rif Kebdani.
I mean, you cannot beat the price since a private room with a private bathroom and shower can cost you as little as $30.00 a night, if you stop by during the best time to visit Tangier.
Sure, the rooms are simple. But they do feature comfy beds, a/c, TVs, a shower, and free wifi. Staff are also available to help you 24/7 at the front desk and an EPIC breakfast is included with your stay.
“Great location & walkable from port. Friendly staff.and abundant breakfast.โ

In fact, brekkie is pretty massive and includes msemen, cake, beghrir, pastries, jam, olives, croissants, eggs, tea, and coffee. It is also best enjoyed on the rooftop terrace with ocean views.
The rooftop isn’t super fancy. However, you will have a nice place to sit and can enjoy a pretty stellar view.
The only downside is that this place is hard to find. However, it is located near the Hotel Continental. So, you can always ask them for directions if you need to.
Also, the value you get for your money is pretty ridiculous. That’s why I highly recommend booking a room now.
17. Dar Gara
โญ๏ธ Rating: 8.6/10.0 (498Reviews) Price: $12+ per night ๐Location: 51 Rue Zaitouna, Old Medina, 90000 Tangier Details: Read more on booking.com now!
Last but certainly not least is Dar Gara. This place is a standout choice if you’re looking for one of the best hostels in Tangier.
TBH, I kind of wish I had stayed here the very first time I was in the city since a bed in a four-bed dorm starts at just $12.00. Shared bathrooms are also available and include towels/hairdryers.
The only thing I really needed was more space for your toiletries in the shower.
Anyway, a lovely breakfast of fresh pastries and fruit is also included with your stay, as is access to a spacious rooftop with nice ocean views.
“The location is really convenient, the staff is so friendly and is willing to help you in anything you need, I think the owner (?) speaks Spanish too, which was surprising! My room was cleaned every day. The options for breakfast are great, too!! My friend and I were struggling with the payment in dirhams, but they accepted a mix of euros and dirhams, we were so thankful for that!!”
Lehady (read more reviews now)
Just know that rooms are pretty sparse and only feature simple bunk beds (no privacy curtains, lockers, bedside lights/outlets). However, the space is clean and you really get a feel for what it is like to stay in a riad.
The wifi also isn’t great and you’ll really need to go to the roof to get a signal.
The staff is also nice and does a great job of creating a welcoming environment where it is easy to meet people as you solo travel Marrakech and Tangier.
So, if you don’t want to explore the best museums in Tangier alone then stop by to meet people.

So, you should have no problem finding the perfect riad for you. If it were me though, I would book a room at Dar Laghrib. The location is great, the service is epic, and the breakfast is divine.
