9 Most Romantic Restaurants in Marrakech

Are you and your partner planning an uber-romantic getaway in Marrakech? If so then you’ll want to read my epic guide to the MOST romantic restaurants in Marrakech.

See, my partner and I have lived on and off in Marrakech since January 2023. See, he’s Moroccan and likes taking me to romantic rooftop restaurants in Marrakech.

You know, places where you can snuggle up together on a rooftop couch and admire sweeping views of Koutoubia Mosque as you knock back a few margaritas with the sun setting in the background. Yes, El Fenn Rooftop, I’m referring to you.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is that I know all about the most romantic places to eat in Marrakech.

You’ll also love there there are a ton of them to choose from since many restaurants in the Medina feature tables nestled up against a sleek plunge pool with traditional Moroccan lanterns glowing overhead.

Yup, it really is just as romantic as it sounds. But, if you’re from out of town, it can be hard to know the good from the bad.

So, here is a list of my favorite romantic restaurants in Marrakech. These are all places I have personally been to. So, I can vouch for how awesome they are.

Use this guide and you’ll enjoy a lot of great food while creating uber-romantic vibes that your partner will love.

1. La Trattoria

Honestly, this is probably one of the most romantic restaurants I have ever been to.

So, I highly recommend visiting if you like the idea of sitting tableside by a giant pool, with ethereal Moroccan-style lanterns glowing to life overhead.

Added bonus? The food is actually good. I know I was kind of surprised since this place looked like a glorified tourist trap for people who love Instagram photos.

But, I was wrong (thankfully(. As a complimentary starter, we got fresh, hot bread as well as olive oil and Zaalouk. It was all super good, to the point that I ate it all.

Afterward, my partner got the bruschetta and I got the burrata. Both were so tasty that we gobbled them up before devouring tiramisu for dessert.

I also liked that the plating was extremely elegant and that the service was attentive but not overbearing.

Okay, now for the negatives. Sorry, but nothing is perfect. It’s not cheap. So, expect to spend at least $50.00 per person, more if you plan to order alcohol in Marrakech.

This is also not the place to go if you want traditional Moroccan food since this is very much an Italian restaurant.

Additionally, it’s located in Gueliz and is a bit far from the Medina. But, I 100% think it’s worth making the trip here.

Finally, this restaurant is POPULAR. So, if you want a coveted poolside table, definitely make a reservation well in advance. We got lucky and easily snagged one of these tables when we stopped by at like 4:00 pm.

Yeah, the restaurant was pretty empty at that time. However, it can get VERY busy in the evening. Therefore, plan accordingly so that you don’t get disappointed during your visit.

It’s also a great place to celebrate your birthday in Marrakech since it is swank AF. Just be sure to get a SIM card in Morocco before you visit since you don’t want to have to reply on restaurant WIFI,

2. Le Jardin

Is there anything more romantic than dining inside a beautiful secret garden filled with charming tables generously adorned with Moroccan accent pieces and white tablecloths?

The correct answer to that question is an emphatic “no” since Le Jardin is STUNNING. It is also the perfect spot for a beautiful date night in Marrakech.

Not only is the food delicious, but it is locally inspired. So, you can sample really, super delicious Moroccan food that includes couscous, tajine, etc.

I visited the VERY first time I was in Marrakech and ordered the egg tajine (aka Berber Omelet). I absolutely loved it and wished I wasn’t solo in Marrakech (Yeah, I hadn’t met my partner yet).

I thought the food was amazing and bursting with exquisite Moroccan flavors that I couldn’t get enough of. I pretty much licked my plate clean.

I also enjoyed the historic vibe of this place since it sits inside an old Marrakech riad from the 1960s.

Overall, the place really has no downside. The food is great, this Marrakech restaurant is well-located in the Medina, and the prices are very reasonable. So, stop by today and see what all the fuss is about.

Local Tip: This place is also great if you are gluten-free in Marrakech since staff can easily cater to your needs. You can also go here if you’re in Marrakech in February since it’s great for Valentine’s Day.

3. La Pergola/Le Bistro Arabe

I lumped these two restaurants together because Le Bistro sits on the ground floor while Le Pergola is upstairs and is routinely ranked as one of the best rooftop restaurants in Marrakech.

Anyway, what makes Le Bistro Arabe more romantic than La Pergola is that it has cozy tables, set for two, sitting around a beautiful pool.

As you look out at the pool, you will hear live jazz singers and musicians playing amazing music that you can enjoy while devouring chicken roulade with date stuffing and pan-fried with citrus and chermoula.

I really thought the food would be expensive and kind of bland. However, I was pleasantly surprised and it was cooked to perfection.

Oh, and they definitely have Moroccan options if you’re looking for something a bit more traditional ( I heard the tajine was epic).

Yes, the place is expensive. So, bring a credit card and try not to look at the prices. You also MUST make a reservation in advance if you want a table by the pool.

Last time we were here this place was packed and we were so glad we booked in advance. You will also need to visit in the evening in Marrakech since that is when the live jazz music starts.

Local Tip: La Pergola is also nice but a bit less formal. I also wasn’t super into the food (I got the Medina Bowl) and there is no view really.

However, my partner loved his falafel, and many other people like the food (just check out the Google reviews). So, you may want to give it a try if you’re not a super formal couple since you can still hear the music from upstairs.

4. Dar Essalam

Dar Essalam is an exquisite Moroccan restaurant with a luxurious interior that beautifully blends traditional Moroccan decor with a modern fine dining experience.

Basically, bring anyone here who loves a good fine dining experience and they will be VERY impressed.

After all, each of the unique rooms tells a story about the building’s unique history. However, the Royal Room stands out with its Arab-Andalusian ambiance.

So, dine here if you want to marvel at a spectacular cupola and a gorgeous central fountain. Meanwhile, the Marjane Room is adorned with intricate woodwork, copper motifs, and classic mosaic tilework.

Yup, the entire restaurant is a feast for the eyes. Now, the last time we were here we came at around 8:00 pm since the entertainment starts at 9:00 pm.

It was nice because we got to choose any table we liked. And while all the food was good, we loved the pastilla and selection of Moroccan salads. Both were true standouts and total fan faves that made us want to come back.

We also loved watching the live entertainment, which included belly dancers and live music from two local musicians, one of which plays the Guembri (My partner thought it was a bit touristy but who cares what he thinks. LOL).

The entertainers even interact with the audience, making dinner here a truly unforgettable experience that I highly recommend.

5. Bacha Coffee

I love Bacha Coffee and have been here at least four or five times already. The first time my partner visited I had to basically drag him here kicking and screaming.

However, he loved the coffee and croissants and asked me when we could come back after we left. So, clearly, he enjoyed it.

Just, remember, this is more of a breakfast or brunch spot in Marrakech since they close at 5:00 pm (they are also closed on Mondays).

It is also VERY popular. Therefore, I recommend getting here right when they open at 10:00 am.

I would purchase tickets for the associated Marrakech museum (the cafe sits inside Dar Bacha Museum) and then grab a table at the cafe before visiting the museum. This way you won’t have to wait like two hours in line for a table later on.

Once inside, admire the over-the-top oppulent decor that makes this place both uber-romantic and one of the best cafes in Marrakech.

Yup, they have an awesome wooden coffee bar, a beautiful atrium with black and white tiled floors, and cozy little dining rooms, off the atrium, with lots of Colonial-style decor.

When you sit down, you’ll get a giant textbook-size menu with a mammoth selection of coffees. We usually go for flavored coffees but ask for recommendations if you need them (most people do).

Also, do not miss out on the croissants. Two come in an order and we LOVE the almond variety. It also doesn’t hurt that the coffee here is served in giant gold pots with fresh vanilla and whipped cream on the side.

TBH, Bacha Coffee is one of my favorite places in the city and I highly recommend visiting if you are looking for delicious food, reasonable prices, amazing decor, and lots of romantic vibes.

6. Le Foundouk

Nestled within Marrakech’s many souks, Le Foundouk is a chic, upscale restaurant that promises an awesome fine dining experience as well as amazing views from the patio-inspired rooftop.

Sure, this rooftop bar in Marrakech can be a little bit hard to find. But, your persistence will pay when you taste the amazing food that sits inside this beautifully restored riad.

When I visited with friends, we were super impressed by the fish tajine and the fish couscous. The live music also added to the ambiance and easily makes this one of the most romantic restaurants in Marrakech.

I also paired my meal with a refreshing Foundouk Express cocktail. It was awesome and was prepared using Mahia (Jewish Moroccan alcohol), lemon juice, and cane sugar. So nice and refreshing.

While it’s possible to visit without a reservation, I highly recommend booking ahead if you want to make use of their beautiful rooftop.

I also found the prices quite reasonable for the quality offered. And if you’re worried about safety in Marrakech late at night, staff are happy to walk you back to your accommodation after your meal.

7. Rooftop Garden at Nobu

I am gonna be really honest here (I always am). I put Nobu on this list because it is SUPER popular and a lot of people love it. However, I am not a huge fan of the food and would probably only get drinks here.

It is also very crowded since the decor is amazing and the rooftop views are pretty stunning. So, make a reservation and try to time your visit for 1.5 hours before sunset. This way you can see the sky light up in an array of beautiful colors.

Additionally, the staff is really helpful and you do get to choose between sitting in the lounge/bar and the restaurant.

I also liked the fun, beach club-inspired decor that is enhanced by a beautiful rooftop pool that is open all year long. Just know that if you want to use the pool you will have to spend 600 Dirhams ($60.00) on a day pass.

Other than that, just enjoy the stunning views and listen to live DJs perform as you order craft cocktails like the Mojito Royal with Prosecco (my fave).

Also, I would probably dress up a bit since this place is high-end. But, I showed up in sweatpants and they let me in. So, you can wear what you want, although you may feel a bit underdressed in sweatpants.

Local Tip: If you want to order something get the beef. I got the sushi last time I was here and it was just mediocre.

8. Pepe Nero

Pepe Nero is another super luxurious Italian restaurant in Marrakech that you absolutely must try if you’re looking to take the romance in your relationship to the next level.

The benefit of visiting Pepe Nero, and not La Trattoria, is that this eatery is well-located in the Medina.

So, stop by and grab a table on their exquisite outdoor patio. You’ll feel like you are dining in the most luxurious Marrakech riad ever since tables are situated inside a beautiful, outdoor central courtyard with trees and an outdoor pool.

Tables are also clad with white tablecloths, and dimly lit candles to help set the mood. Another benefit of dining here is that they have an extensive Italian AND Moroccan menu.

Therefore, you can always keep it local if you want to try delicious Moroccan food during your next visit. The last time we were here, I ordered the buffalo mozzarella salad and the tortellini with Porcini sauce.

I honestly couldn’t stop eating and definitely walked away overly full (but happy).

Meanwhile, my partner had the veggie tajine and said it was really nice. So, we were very happy with our meal and will definitely be back even though it is not cheap.

Also, do make a reservation well in advance since this place is not a hidden gem in Marrakech.

Local Tip: Be sure to exchange some cash in Morocco before you visit a restaurant since many places don’t accept credit cards.

9. Dar Zellij

Tucked away in the heart of the Medina, Dar Zellij is one of those super charming Moroccan restaurants that is filled with beautiful, hand-painted ceilings and detailed tile inlays.

The result is a captivating environment that will sweep your partner right off their feet (again). I also like that they have beautiful indoor and outdoor dining areas.

If you can, grab a seat in their outdoor courtyard surrounded by citrus trees. It’s a truly magical place to dig into classic Moroccan dishes like tajine, couscous, seffa, etc.

We haven’t been here in a while (sadly) but I believe I ordered the lamb tajine and the Moroccan salads the last time I was here. Sorry, I have no idea what my boyfriend ordered.

However, what I do remember is that the food was excellent and that I wanted to come back after enjoying the live music and belly dancing performance.

Local Tip: Head to their rooftop for a few drinks before sitting down for dinner.

Hopefully, you now know where to go if you want to enjoy a romantic night out in Marrakech. While all of the restaurants listed are great, my faves are probably Le Jardin, Bacha Coffee, Pepe Nero, and La Trattoria.

That being said, you really can’t wrong at any of these places, and will have a beautiful meal regardless of where you go.

Just remember to make reservations in advance since many of these eateries are super popular and tables will fill up fast. Other than that, just enjoy some of the most charming restaurants in Marrakech.
