17 Best Hostels in Marrakech

The first thing you’ll be delighted to know is that the best hostels in Marrakech are next-level awesome. Yeah, Marrakech has a ton of high-quality hostels to choose from.

So, these cheap places to stay in marrakech are affordable (think between $7.00 and $12.00 for a dorm bed), can include breakfast, can feature awesome rooftop terraces, and sometimes even have refreshing plunge pools to dive into.

Yeah, I have been to a lot of cities and Marrakech has an amazing selection of high-quality hostels that are well-priced and that offer travelers amazing amenities.

Just be sure to book your hostel well in advance. I live in Morocco and have been here since January of 2023.

But, the first time I visited Marrakech I got lucky and booked my hostel at the last minute since I was visiting in January and it was off-season.

However, Marrakech is a very popular city among tourists, especially with a recent influx in the number of cheap Ryan Air flights arriving at Marrakech Airport.

So, book in advance and try to book a Marrakech hostel in the Medina. This ancient, walled part of the city is centrally located near some of the best attractions in the city.

It’s also just a super charming, super walkable part of the city that will give you a great feel for what old world Morocco was really like.

Local Tip: Many of the best hostels in Marrakech offer airport transfers to the Medina. However, you do not need one. You can easily get from Marrakech airport to the Medina on your own for 30 Dirhams ($3.00) round trip.

Mellah/South Medina

I’ve stayed in Stork Luxury Hostel a couple of times and I really like it. Yes, it is located on a super busy street that is basically touching the walls of Badi Palace.

So, if your room is overlooking the street then it can get a little noisy, especially when the window is open.

Otherwise, the rooms are really nice, even if the A/C is never on and I can’t find the remote whenever I am here. See, dorms include six beds that are set inside sturdy, wooden bunk beds.

The beds have nice mattresses/pillows/blankets and you even get a privacy curtain as well as a private light and an outlet for charging your phone.

There are also giant lockers beneath the bed that are big enough to fit any bag. Plus, you get a separate key that you can use to lock up your belongings.

Sadly, there are no bathrooms in the dorms, and breakfast is not offered. The staff also are not the friendliest and this place is really quiet. Like, I have never really seen anyone here besides the staff.

But, the rooftop is awesome, this hostel is well-located, the dorms are really well-outfitted, and it’s a great place to get a good night’s sleep since it’s super quiet at night.

I also wish the showers had shelves for your stuff. This way it would be easy to keep your clothes dry while you shower.

Local Tip: There isn’t a huge sign out front but if you knock on the door someone will let you in. Honestly, the lack of signage makes this place easy to miss.

But one of my epic tips for Morocco is to stay here if you’re on a budget. Also, get a SIM card in Marrakech before arriving so that you can find your way here. A travel adaptor is also a good idea if you want to use the plugs in Morocco.

2. Boho 27 Hostel Marrakech

This small hostel in the Medina has three 6-bed dorms and one 10-bed dorm. Therefore, they only have the capacity to accommodate 28 people.

So, you’ll receive more personalized attention and get expert help planning amazing activities like cooking classes, quad biking, Agafay Desert tours, and more.

Dorm rooms are light and airy with bright white walls and sturdy wooden bunk beds that come with a nice ladder, a personal light, and a power outlet.

There are also wooden lockers (with locks) for your belongings and plenty of bathrooms for everyone. Yes, they are basic but you won’t have to wait in line for the shower.

All in all, the decor here is bright and modern, with traditional Moroccan tilework and accents thrown in to give the space a more Moroccan feel.

However, my favorite place in this hostel is the rooftop terrace. It is well-outfitted with shade, comfy cushions, and charming plants that make this a place you 100% want to hang out in.

I love coming up here and enjoying the delicious complimentary breakfast that the hostel offers. Just be aware that they do sometimes overbook and put you in a second hostel that is the same price. It’s just not as nice.

Local Tip: If you visit Marrakech in April (or after) then be sure to book in advance since rooms can sell out.

3. The Madrasa

The Madrasa is one of the best hostels in Marrakech that offers simple, 6 and 8-bed dorm rooms in the Medina. The hostel and rooms are pretty plain, but they’re perfect for a short-term stay.

TBH, the real appeal of staying here is the staff. They go out of their way to help you and create a warm and welcoming environment that makes it easy to meet people.

Morad and Ismail are very gentle and friendly and always ready to do whatever you need. They don’t care about the effort,they care about you! They’re just perfect! You also get a complimentary breakfast that includes msemen, an omelet, amlou, jam, yogurt, bread, juice, and more. It’s not world-class but it’s a nice way to start the day.

There’s also a lovely rooftop area where you can hang out and chat with other travelers. It features traditional Moroccan decor. Sure, the views aren’t epic, however, it’s a nice place to hang out.

This hostel is an 8-minute walk from the main square and was founded by a Barber man who wanted to bring travelers together and share Moroccan culture with international travelers.

It is a fun, beautifully decorated place with 24/7 reception, luggage storage, a communal kitchen, free wifi, and laundry facilities.

Travelers can also hang out on the rooftop terrace and meet other guests before heading back to their well-appointed, 8 or 4-person dorm rooms.

Decor here is light and bright, with white walls, beautiful tile floors, Berber rugs, and eco-friendly decor made using upcycled items.

Bathrooms are also bright, clean, and modern, while bunk beds are new and have a Berber vibe to them. Breakfast is also included. You’re in luck because it’s delicious and includes generous portions.

This is just one of those cool hostels in Marrakech that is quiet but that is also an easy place to meet people. I would 100% recommend staying here, even if it’s hard to find since there is an issue with Google Maps.

The breakfast is also excellent and includes croissants, eggs, beghrir, msemen, and yogurt. TBH, the breakfast here is better than what I”ve had at many riads.

I LOVE the Central House in Marrakech and have stayed here at least three or four times since I sometimes need a last-minute place to crash for a few days in Marrakech.

Anyway, the main reason I love this place is that it feels like a boutique hotel, not a hostel. So, you’ll find lots of sleek, modern decor inside light, bright dorm rooms with sturdy, comfy beds that have uber-comfy blankets and pillows.

All rooms also feature nice, ensuite showers as well as heaters and A/C. You also get privacy curtains, a giant locker beneath your bed, a private light, and a personal electrical outlet.

No, breakfast is not included. But, you’re just a 15-minute walk from the main square. So, finding brunch in Marrakech isn’t a problem.

The staff are also friendly, they have a nice little plunge pool (making this one of the best hotels in Marrakech with a pool), there is a bar on-site, and they have an amazing rooftop terrace.

Honestly, the rooftop terrace alone makes this one of the best places to stay in Marrakech since it’s huge and is a great place to relax or do some work since the wifi is actually fast.

All in all, this is great place for digital nomads to relax and do work. I also had no problem making friends and liked that there were people of all ages staying here. I also was super close to some cool Marrakech cooking classes.

You also may want to ask about on-site activities since they may offer yoga classes in Marrakech here. Otherwise, just stop by one of the best yoga studios in Marrakech since there are a ton of them.

Miostello Lifestyle Hostel is great if you like to party since it is located near Jardin Majorelle and is situated near some of the best nightlife in Marrakech.

The beds are comfortable/clean, the wifi is fast, the staff is friendly, and breakfast is nice since it comes with fresh OJ.

Rooms are also well-appointed with Moroccan-style decor while dorms feature beds constructed like private cubicles. All dorm beds come with a privacy curtain, outlet, personal light, and a nice mattress/cozy blanket.

There is also a bar on-site and a big common room that is a great place to meet people. TBH, the decor here is super nice and it feels a lot more like a boutique hotel than it does a hostel.

All in all, if you are looking for a hostel where you can meet people then this is probably the best hostel in Marrakech for you since they have a killer rooftop and organize cool events like yoga classes, cooking classes, and guided city tours.

Just be aware that because of their high-quality facilities, you will likely spend around $40.00 per night to stay here, depending on the season. It’s a bit expensive but worth it if you want a comfortable stay.

Step inside this beautiful, mosaic tile building with stained glass windows and black and white tile floors and you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to the Moroccan countryside.

In reality, Mosaic Hostel is less than a 10-minute walk from Jemaa el Fna Square and was once the home of a local, Moroccan family.

Today, it is a lovely hostel in Marrakech where you can stay inside specious, newly renovated rooms that include 4, 6, and 8-bed dorms.

Dorms are fairly basic and have a very traditional Moroccan feel to them. But, bunk beds are solid and set inside sturdy wooden frames.

There are also roll-out lockers beneath the bunkbeds that, while loud, give you plenty of space to store your stuff.

A delicious breakfast is also included with your stay and can be enjoyed on the charming, rooftop terrace. It consists of msemen, harcha, an omelet, yogurt, tea, and bread and is a great way to begin your day.

This spacious terrace, with views of the Medina, is also a great place to connect with other travelers and make fun travel plans as you enjoy one of the most affordable riads in Marrakech.

This fun and friendly hostel has an awesome rooftop terrace, complete with a mini Berber-style tent, where you can sit at a tile mosaic table and look out at the city before indulging in a complimentary breakfast.

Overall, the decor is lovely and you feel like you’re staying in a traditional Moroccan riad. Dorm rooms are simple and outfitted with standard, metal bunk beds that come with a light and outlet by each bed.

These beds not the most comfy in the world, but that’s okay. Add authentic Barber rugs, beautiful black and white tile floors, and large wooden lockers to the rooms and you have a good place to spend 2 days in Marrakech.

Personally, I thought the breakfast was just okay and wish they had more bathrooms since there are two toilets and showers for the entire first floor.

Towels are also only available for rent (10 Dirhams) and laundry services are available for a fee (50 Dirhams). But, it’s a nice place to stay if you’re planning a quick trip to Marrakech.

What’s not to love about Riad Dia Marrakech? The decor is lovely (very old-world Morocco vibe with stained glass windows) and there is this small but amazing central plunge pool.

It makes you feel as though you’re swimming inside a charming pond set within a tranquil garden and is a perfect place to cool off if you missed the best time of year to visit Marrakech.

This budget riad in Marrakech is also located less than a minute from the main square and has several light and bright sun terraces for you to hang out on.

“It was a pretty riad, which was candlelit by night. The bedrooms were cleaned each day and the sheets replaced. The rooftop is spacious and you can chat to others, sunbathe or get on with some work up there. Relax, enjoy the decor of this traditional riad, pick fruit from an indoor garden, and make new friends at this social hostel.

Just choose a bed inside a 14, 12, 8, or 6-bed dorm and enjoy an incredible stay in Marrakech. Yeah, the staff are great (Mustafa especially) and an amazing breakfast in Marrakech is included.

You even have a small personal locker where you can store your valuables.

However, the rooms are quite basic and are only outfitted with rickety bunk beds. They can also get really hot if the door isn’t wide open. So, don’t expect privacy curtains or a personal light/outlet.

When you initially walk into Equity Point, you’ll think you’re in a Marrakech luxury riad, not a hostel. That’s because this hostel is a stunning, white building with a central courtyard that has an amazing, outdoor pool surrounded by beautiful archways.

There’s even a spa on-site and you’ll be just a couple of minutes away from Jemaa el Fna Square. All you’ll need to do is choose between 4 to 10-bed dorms, as well as double and single rooms.

Rooms are a bit simple and can feel a bit cramped. But, the beds are in solid wood bunk beds and you’ll even get an en-suite bathroom too.

There are also well-decorated common rooms as well as a nice rooftop where you can relax and take in views of the city.

I also like that both the staff and the guests of the hotel are friendly, making it easy to meet people.

Just know that the pool is only open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, April through October. Honestly, the pool is REALLY cold and no one actually uses it for that reason.

Breakfast is also not included and you’ll have to pay 54 Dirhams ($5.40) for it. TBH, it’s not the best and I would skip it.

The first thing you’ll love about Riad Marrakech Rouge is that this hostel is well-located near the main square (liek 2 minutes away). It also has 14, 8, 6, and 4-bed dorms to choose from.

So, regardless of your budget, you’ll find a room that suits your needs.

It’s also easy to meet people since people are friendly and vibrant common rooms are bedazzled with rainbow rugs and pumpkins, making this a space everyone wants to hang out in.

Rooms here are also clean but very basic and beds are PACKED together. So, this is 100% not a luxury hostel and you probably won’t want to spend a lot fo time in the dark, but clean, rooms.

However, a nice breakfast is included and you can spend most of your time catching rays on the spacious sundeck. You can also order some shisha or coffee and staff will be happy to bring it up to you.

You can even say “hi” to the resident turtle or relax in a cozy Berber tent while watching tv. Plus, if you want to use a pool, just head to Riad Jannah Rouge down the road since it is their sister property.

As part of the “Rouge” chain of hostels, the decor and vibe here are very similar to what you’ll find at Riad Marrakech Rouge or Riad Jannah Rouge.

However, what sets this family-run hostel apart is the fact that you are literally just steps away from Jemaa el Fna Square and the souks of Marrakech.

You can also enjoy complimentary tea, cake, and Moroccan breakfast (with eggs) before admiring the kaleidoscope of colors that adorn the interior of this small riad with three suites and one mixed dorm for 8 people.

Dorms are very basic and shakey beds feel very much crammed into the room. But, you can always escape to a rooftop terrace draped in fruit and flower trees.

Or, relax in a Moroccan-style salon and make use of the free wifi since it’s actually good. Afterward, walk down the road to Riad Jannah Rouge and feel free to use the pool at this hostel’s sister property.

I also love that you can actually see staff cleaning daily, even if the beds could be updated and a curtain could be added to the showers.

Riad Jennah Rouge is one of the best hostels for solo travelers in Marrakech since it feels a bit high-end but has the heart of a hostel.

So, guests are friendly and you’ll have no problem meeting like-minded travelers in the shisha annex, the secret garden terrace, or while admiring one of three magical fountains.

“I had a fantastic time at this hostel! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful whenever I needed assistance. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the beds were very comfortable. The location is excellent too, with easy access to major tourist attractions. I will definitely be back again in the future!”

However, unlike most hostels, this riad feels a bit more luxurious. So, expect over-the-top, vibrant, Moroccan-style decor and an awesome rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the Medina.

You’ll also be able to book 6-bed dorms that have pretty basic beds and amenities. Yup, no privacy curtains or anything like that here. Just a basic bed where you can get a good night’s sleep and use a nice, modern, clean, en-suite bathroom.

However, just be prepared because the beds are kind of uncomfortable and some of the bathrooms don’t really lock.

There’s a lot to love about Kasbah Red Castle Hostel in the Medina. First of all, they have a variety of accommodation options. So, choose between 4, 6, 8, 9, and 10-bed dorms that are either mixed or female only.

Yes, the rooms are basic. However, they’re clean and you’ll have an en-suite bathroom. Some dorms even come with privacy curtains on the beds, as well as a private balcony/terrace.

Other highlights include a nice rooftop terrace (it looks like a traditional Berber tent), a 24-hour-a-day front desk, luggage storage, free wifi, and laundry facilities.

Personally, this is not my favorite hostel in Marrakech since I find it lacking in terms of socializing and the friendliness of the staff. However, it’s still a nice place to stay, even if breakfast isn’t offered.

I just wouldn’t stay here for a long time and maybe just a day in Marrakech.

The cool thing about Sun Hostel is that it has a very traditional feel to it. So, you’ll see lots of traditional Moroccan tiles, blue doors, and stained glass windows as well as traditional Moroccan-style beds in all of the rooms.

They also have a really nice, super new kitchen where you can do some cooking when you’re not enjoying the hostel’s awesome breakfast on the rooftop terrace.

“The day before our arrival, we got a message with a guide to get to the hostel safely, a list of the best restaurants in the area and a list of the touristic tours available. Sun hostel was clean and perfumed. Ou was super responsive via whatsapp, always available to help with any issue.”

Breakfast is free and includes bread, mssemen, a boiled egg, tea, spreadable cheese, and more. You’ll also get complimentary towels and can enjoy an excellent central location in the Medina.

In fact, you are about a fifteen-minute walk from the Medina and will get detailed instructions – as well as local recommendations about what to do and where to eat – about how to get to the hostel.

This way you don’t have to worry about getting lost. Sadly, the wifi in the hostel kind of sucks.

Dorms are also a bit cramped. They include 8 beds but don’t have any ensuite bathroom. However, you can always just hang out on the terrace instead.

There are lots of seats up there and since this hostel is pretty social, it’s easy to meet people. The staff are also super nice and friendly at one of the best hostels in Marrakech.

TBH, I actually booked a dorm inside Smile Hostel by accident. I had wanted to stay at Sun Hostel, but I was placed in Smile Hostel because the two properties are sister locations.

I was a bit annoyed at first. However, it turned out fine since the property was well-located, had nice rooms, and a lock on the exterior door that is accessed via a four-digit code.

Yes, dorm rooms are a bit small and there is only one bathroom for the ENTIRE hostel. There are also not a ton of hang-out areas, so it can be challenging to meet people.

However, the dorm beds are very comfy and include individual lockers, privacy curtains, personal bedside shelves, reading lights, and warm blankets.

Breakfast is also available on the rooftop, which has no shade and minimal seating. But, it is nice and includes eggs cooked to order as well as a wide variety of breads.

So, it is a good place to stay if you just want to relax and enjoy a quiet night in a hostel. I would just bring earplugs since noise carries in the hostel from floor to floor.

This Marrakech hostel is well-located in the Medina and makes you feel like you’re staying inside an authentic Moroccan home. So, the decor is cozy and has a very traditional Moroccan style.

Hostel Dream Belko is also very basic. So, you’ll be staying on simple metal bunk beds that are packed into either 6 or 8-bed dorm rooms. There are also no lockers to store your stuff.

“I stayed in this hostel for like 10 days and it became like a second home. I really enjoyed my time here. The staff was really nice, the place was beautiful and comfortable and the location was great because is near to almost all the tourist attractions. It’s also near cheap restaurants and shops where you can get all you need for your stay. I had a great experience and will definitely come back someday.”

However, the staff are amazing and do a great job of facilitating a friendly and welcoming environment since they set up nightly dinners that provide travelers with the perfect opportunity to meet other people.

They also have two fantastic terraces where you can sit and enjoy beautiful views of local mosques and the surrounding Atlas Mountains.

Other highlights include luggage storage, laundry facilities, towel rentals, free wifi, 24/7 reception, a tour desk to organize day trips from Marrakech, and more.

A delicious breakfast is also included, making this one of the best hostels in Marrakech. I just didn’t like that you have to pay to use the kitchen and thought that was kind of weird.

I also wish they had shelves in the bathroom. This way you could store your stuff here while you take a shower.
