I live in Essaouira and visit Marrakech every chance I get (I’m literally boarding the bus today to stay there for a month). My partner and I are also not big into meat.
We much prefer vegetarian-friendly dishes and restaurants we can order fresh and delicious food that will leave our tastebuds singing with delight.

1. Cafe des Epices

I feel like Cafe des Epices is one of the few famous restaurants in Marrakech that isn’t overhyped. I recently stopped by during Ramadan and the food was really good.
I ordered the Berber Omelet and it was absolutely delicious. The flavor was spot on and they gave me plenty of bread. Yes, the service was a bit slow, but it was lunchtime in Marrakech and this spot was packed with people.
In fact, people were waiting well over an hour for a seat on their rooftop. Personally, I would come early and have breakfast in Marrakech here since the roof will be empty and you can enjoy epic views of Place des Epices in relative solitude.
Just be aware that not everything on this menu is veggie-friendly. However, they do serve all sorts of tajines, sandwiches, and salads, many of which contain no meat.
This place is also very much not fancy and very well-priced. I paid 40 Dirhams ($4.00) for my Berber Omelet and walked away very happy.
So, this is one of the vegetarian restaurants in Marrakech that I would be happy to go back to and I honestly cannot wait to bring my partner. Also learn how to tip in Marrakech since that’s important too.
Local Tip: This restaurant is also great for gluten-free travelers in Marrakech since gluten-free items on the menu have three stars next to them.
2. Broc the Kasbah

What I love about Broc the Kasbah is that it is a dedicated vegetarian restaurant in Marrakech. TBH, a lot of the menu items are vegan too. So, this is a great spot for vegans and vegetarians alike.
The last time I was here Menu we hung out on their lovely rooftop and really enjoyed the service from the friendly staff.
I also love that this spot is a bit hidden away. So, you don’t have to deal with tons and tons of people. The prices are also fairly reasonable too.
My partner ordered the falafel bowl for 40 Dirhams ($4.00) and absolutely loved it. I opted for the poke bowl and had a slice of chocolate cake for desert.
Both were amazing and I love that all fo the menus are printed on vinyls. It’s a really fun and funky touch that sets this restaurant apart.
All in all, I would definitely come back and really look forward to trying other delicious things on their menu.
Local Tip: They have a fun and funky clothing store right next door. So, you could stop by after your meal and do some shopping in Marrakech since this is a great area in Marrakech for it.
You can even pick up epic Moroccan souvenirs while you’re here.
3. Nomad

Nomad is another one of the vegetarian restaurants Marrakech has to offer that features a variety of meat and non-meat entrees on their menu.
Essentially, they offer modern versions of Moroccan classics and are famous for being one of the best rooftop restaurants in Marrakech.
TBH, I think this place is kind of overrated. Yes, the decor is lovely and modern, but when I went it was absolutely packed with people.
Thankfully, the service was still really quick and I got my vegetarian couscous in like 15 minutes. It was good and I definitely ate it all but it wasn’t amazing.
I also thought this place was a bit expensive since you can’t really get an entree for under 140 Dirhams ($14.00). Additionally, if you want to sit on the roof then you’ll need to make reservations in advance.
You’ll also have to order a full meal, and not just a drink, if you want to sit on the roof. TBH, this place is alright but I doubt I would come back. But, if you’re dying to visit then stop by and let me know what you think.
It’s also a good place to stop if you’re staying at one of the best riads in Marrakech with a pool.
4. Eat Me Marrakech
If you want to get away from the Medina and are looking for some amazing Thai food then you can’t beat Eat Me Marrakech in Gueliz.
Typically, I stay away from Asian and Thai cuisine in Morocco since it tends not to be very good. However, this vegetarian-friendly restaurant in Marrakech really surprised me.
First of all, the service is amazing and the staff knows exactly what vegans and vegetarians are. Plus, everything on the menu is clearly labeled. So, you know exactly what dishes are and are not veggie-friendly.
Secondly, the food is packed with flavor and you get complimentary chips and dips with your meal. While everything I had was really good, the mango sticky rice and the spring rolls were real stand outs.
The tofu pad see ew was also a really good entree and I thought the prices were pretty reasonable. It’s definitely not authentic Thai food but it tastes good which is what really counts.
5. Henna Art Cafe

This cute cafe in Marrakech is tucked away in the Medina, right near the Kasbah. I adore this place because the food is super affordable..
Plus, the decor is amazing and they do fun things like bring you silverware in an authentic Moroccan shoe. Don’t worry, the shoe is super clean.
Additionally, this restaurant doubles as a cool place where you can get all-natural henna tattoos and even take some of the cool art on the walls home with you.
The last time I was here I sat on the rooftop and ordered the hummus and falafel. The hummus could have used a bit more flavor and the falafel was MEH.
My partner got the avocado toast and the quesadilla and enjoyed both of them. We also liked that the prices were reasonable and that most dishes cost between 60 Dirhams ($6.00) and 70 Dirhams ($7.00).
Plus, the henna services were great since the ladies were fast, efficient, and created amazing designs.
All in all, I would come back and think there are plenty of options on the menu for vegans and vegetarians, even if they do serve meat too. It’s also easy to visit since it’s well-located near some of the cheapest riads in Marrakech.
Local Tip: The last time we went here the food was not very good. I think maybe the chef had an off day because everything wasn’t as good as I remembered. The waiter also got out order wrong, which was alright.
6. Amal

Amal is another great semi-vegetarian restaurant in Gueliz.
The name actually means “hope” in Arabic and that makes sense when you realize that this non-profit organization provides training for disadvantaged women who want to become chefs.
So, all of the proceeds from your meal directly benefit local women – something that you can feel super good about.
Just grab a seat and one of their stunning, tile tables and relax as you read of the inspiring/empowering feminist quotes on the walls. They have a great, shaded outdoor patio that is quiet and filled with cute tiled fountains.
TBH, the staff here are amazing and dedicated to providing top-quality service. The last time I was here I ordered the vegetarian tajine. The food was good and the prices were very reasonable.
It’s not the best food I have ever had but I definitely finished my tajine. My partner ordered the chocolate mousse and the tea and he enjoyed both. I also liked that we could pay by credit card.
Just know that the menu is small (maybe ten items total) and that they have relatively short hours. In fact, they are typically open from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm, except on Sundays.
So, plan ahead if you want to visit. TBH, I was pretty impressed since we showed up at 2:45 pm and they still seated up.
Overall, I would 100% come back to support these amazing women. Just be aware that the menu changes regularly and what I ordered might not be avialable. However, they typically have at least a couple of vegetarian dishes on the menu.
Local Tip: This is also a great place to go to try Iftar during Ramadan in Marrakech.
7. Mandela Society

The first time I went to Mandela Society for brunch in Marrakech, I actually didn’t really like it. I dunno, I thought my coffee was watery and my food was kind of meh. Then I went back a little earlier in the day for breakfast in Marrakech and loved it.
Sure, they have a nice lunch/dinner menu that includes tons of veggie/vegan options like a quesadilla, a Buddha bowl, a vegan burger, etc.
Additionally, all of the vegan-friendly menu options are marked, with non-dairy milks available for any coffee or drinks you might want.
Anyway, their “brunch” menu is available until 12:00 pm everyday and is amazing. Seriously, my partner and I have been here so many times for everything from carrot cake to banana bread with amlou and chocolate.
TBH, I think the banana bread is my fave thing on the menu since it’s moist, delicious, and pretty dang affordable. I also like their farm egg toast which is basically like an omelet with some avocado toast.
Oh, and their coffee is amazing. We go here all the time for breakfast in Essaouira just because we love their coffee.
So, if you’re looking for a restaurant with delicious food, great coffee, awesome desserts, tons of vegan/vegetarian options, and a lovely rooftop in Marrakech, then give this place a try.
FYI, they also have another location that is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Essaouira.
8. Beyrouth
This is another restaurant in Gueliz that is packed with vegetarian options. That’s mainly because it is a low-key Lebanese restaurant. And as much of you probably know, Lebanese cuisine features a lot of veggie options.
We love to come here because the staff are friendly, the prices are great, and my partner is OBSESSED with falafel and hummus. Yeah, we can’t get any decent falafel or hummus in Essaouira, so he loves coming here.
It’s also nice because staff speak multiple languages, are happy to help with anything you need, and charge everyone the same price. Yeah, some restaurants inflate the price for foreigners and this is something to avoid in Marrakech.
Overall, I enjoyed the falafel and hummus and would definitely come back again. Just know that they do not serve alcohol and this is NOT one of the best restaurants in Marrakech with alcohol.
9. La Famille

Getting sick of Moroccan food? Then head to this 100% vegetarian-friendly cafe that serves Mediterranean-inspired fare.
It’s hidden away in the Medina (right near Dar Si Said which is one of the best museums in Marrakech) and has this amazing garden oasis feel that offers you a much-needed escape from the chaos of the souks in Marrakech.
My favorite thing to do is to come here for lunch in Marrakech. I like to grab a seat at a table beneath a lemon tree and order basically anything from their menu.
FYI, the menu changes daily since they are kind of like a farm-to-table eatery that cooks based on what is available and in season. However, the last time I visited I got two homemade dips that were served with fresh crackers as an appetizer.
I wanted to gobble my food up but had to pace myself because I also had to eat a fresh focaccia pizza with lots of herbs and grilled veggies for my main course.
The food was fresh and delicious and amazing. I just wish I had saved room for dessert since they had awesome things like homemade tiramisu, chocolate peanut butter cake, and soft cakes with argan.
FYI, the beetroot hummus is to die for and be sure to make a reservation since this place is VERY popular.
Then, after you eat, head to their corner store and do some shopping in Marrakech for some fun jewelry.
10. Cafe Clock

I ADORE Cafe Clock and have been to their locations in Marrakech, Fes, and Chefchaouen.
I always like to stop by because the decor is amazing, they have a nice rooftop for chilling (the views aren’t epic though), the food is amazing, and the prices are super reasonable.
Generally, my partner and I like to come here for breakfast since you get a coffee/tea, breakfast entree, and OJ for just 55 Dirhams ($5.50).
I generally get the Berber Eggs while he gets the GIANT pancake stack that is covered in fresh fruit and caramelized bananas. Both are really good and we get them all the time.
However, I also like the avocado toast and LOTS of people come here to try the Camel Burger since it’s delish and this is one of the most unusual things to do in Marrakech.
If you’re here for lunch or dinner then you can always order epic menu items like the falafel bowl, the vegetable pastilla, etc. Yeah, this place is nice for veggies because the menu is clearly labeled.
But, the staff are always friendly and will be happy to answer any questions you have. You can even stop by in the evening and attend love musical performances or storytelling events every night of the week.
Therefore, this is an all-around great place to hang out since they also offer fun cooking classes in Marrakech and host cool special events.
11. World Storytelling Cafe

What I love about this cafe in the Medina is that the menu is fully vegan. So, everything served here will be both vegan and vegetarian-friendly.
That being said, the menu isn’t huge. It consists of around eight vegan tapas that cost around 20 Dirhams ($2.00) each, as well as a few vegan soups and entrees.
The last time I was here we ordered a bunch of tapas. The Zalouk, Loubia, Lentil Stew, Bissara, hummus, falafel, and masala were all good.
Sadly, the service can be slow, but the decor is nice and the wifi is fast. So, this is a good place to work if that’s what you’re looking for.
But, my fave part about this place is listening to ancient storytelling. They host regular events where you can enjoy this ancient art form. It’s in the room at the very top since they have a cute little performance area there.
It’s easily one of the best things to do in Marrakech with kids. So, check out their website and enjoy one of the best free things to do in Marrakech at one of the top vegan restaurants in Marrakech.
12. Le Jardin

Le Jardin is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Marrakech. Not only is the food and service exceptional. but the entire restaurant is tucked away inside this botanical oasis.
Therefore, it’s an easy pick for one of the most romantic restaurants in Marrakech.
So, you’ll get to sit at a quiet table on the garden patio of a historic riad from the 1960s. There’s also a new rooftop dining room for you to check out.
I like the main dining room though since it makes you feel like you’re dining inside a secret garden that instantly takes you away from all the chaos of the Medina.
The last time I visited I got the egg tajine and was impressed. I thought my food was tasty and the price was just right.
FYI, a lot of restaurants in Marrakech refer to a Berber Omelet as a Berber Tajine or an Egg Tajine. They may all have different names but they are all the same thing.
However, other cool vegetarian dishes for you to order include hummus, vegetarian or cheese briouates, avocado toast, a garden burger, vegetarian couscous, etc.
Just read the menu carefully since they serve meat and vegetarian dishes aren’t specified. After your meal. check out the on-site pop-up shop and grab some cool souvenirs before you leave.
13. Kui Zin

Easily one of the best rooftop restaurants in Marrakech, Kui Zin is this super cool Moroccan restaurant with an amazing rooftop and a live band that performs traditional Moroccan music.
Not only is the ambiance and decor amazing, but they actually bake their own bread on-site – and if you have been in Morocco for five minutes then you know how important bread is.
The last time I visited I got the harira and the vegetable briouats (it’s like a samosa but stuffed with veggies). Both were super tasty and I loved how thin and crispy the briouats were. The couscous is also delish and is worth ordering.
Just pair your food with a spiced Moroccan espresso and you’ll have a meal to remember. If you want, dig into their excellent buffet is the evening, which is exquisitely complimented by fun local music.
14. Bloom House

I’m not gonna lie to you, Bloom House is a cafe/yoga studio in Marrakech/vegetarian cafe that is a bit far from the Medina but a great place to do yoga in Marrakech.
But, the food is amazing! I am not even vegan and loved the vegan banana bread with cashew mascarpone. So, if you can, stop by on your way to the train station/bus station.
Once here, enjoy the chic, modern decor which includes tables set inside a garden oasis that offers a well-deserved reprieve from the chaos of the Medina.
I also love that they offer all-day breakfast. I know we stopped by at 4:00 pm and I was still able to order the Shakshuka. It was perfectly cooked, super flavorful, and had lots of creamy cheese too.
I even got homemade bread with my food and didn’t have to pay extra when I ordered more. Yes, the chocolate latte wasn’t the best and the service was a bit slow.
However, they do have an array of lattes available that are all made with non-dairy milk.
The prices are also VERY reasonable for vegetarian food and cost around 85 Dirhams ($8.50) each. So, stop by since the delicious food and incredible ambiance makes this one of my fave vegetarian restaurants in the city.
I honestly wish the yoga studios in Essaouira served this type of food. Then I’d be one super happy camper.
